Is insurance accepted? How do I verify my benefits?Nicole Peterson, LAc, MAcOM is an in-network provider for Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oregon. She is an out-of-network provider for all other companies. Many insurance plans have great coverage for acupuncture. We are happy to contact your insurance company to verify your benefits. Please call 541-631-9649 or email us at ashlandfamilyacupuncture@gmail.com. If your plan does have out-of-network coverage, we will give you a detailed receipt (superbill) that has all of the necessary codes needed for reimbursement. You would pay our office at the time of service, and then your insurance company will reimburse you directly.
-
Is the office handicapped accessible?Yes, there is an elevator on the bottom floor of the office building that will take you to the second floor where the clinic is located.
-
What is the cancellation policy? There is a $50 fee for all no-shows and cancellations within 24 hours of the appointment.
-
How many treatments will I need?Acupuncture is most effective when you receive about 8-12 treatments. After that time period, you will know if the treatments are effective for you and your condition. The total number of treatments needed varies depending on the length and nature of your illness. Chronic and complex illnesses may require more treatment, while acute problems generally respond faster. Removing the deepest cause of your imbalance requires commitment and patience. Once you are feeling completely better, a monthly treatment can be helpful to maintain your progress.
-
Does acupuncture hurt?Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin, sterile needles into various points on the body. In general, acupuncture is painless. Occasionally, people may feel a brief stinging sensation and/or a dull sensation as a normal part of the experience.
-
Are there any side effects to acupuncture? Most patients experience the positive, relaxing benefits of acupuncture. Occasionally, some patients may experience fatigue, slight discoloration and tenderness at the needle site, lightheadedness, temporary worsening of symptoms, and emotional release. As you proceed with treatment, some of these temporary side effects will lessen or go away all together. We encourage you to call us after your treatment if you have any concerns.
-
What if I have more questions? We are happy to offer a free phone or in-person consultation to see if we are a good fit for you. Contact us here.
-
What if I don't want acupuncture? Not everyone wants acupuncture especially children. Acupressure in conjunction with applied kinesiology and/or NAET (Allergy Elimination Technique) are very effective treatment options for those who do not want acupuncture. Nutritional and herbal therapies are also available.
